Taking a look back on a few events that has taken place on May 10th in previous years.
1969 – Apollo 10 transmit 1st color pictures of Earth from space. The Apollo 10 mission encompassed all aspects of an actual crewed lunar landing, except the landing. It was the first flight of a complete, crewed Apollo spacecraft to operate around the moon.
1973 – Bruce Lee collapsed in Golden Harvest studios in Hong Kong while doing dubbing work for the movie Enter the Dragon. Suffering from seizures and headaches, he was immediately rushed to Hong Kong Baptist Hospital where doctors diagnosed cerebral edema. These same symptoms occurred again on the day of his death on July 20, 1973.
1986 – “Rock Me Amadeus” by Falco hits number one in the United Kingdom, becoming the first single by an Austrian act to achieve this distinction.
1994 – Nelson Mandela becomes South Africa’s first black president after more than three centuries of white rule.
2003 – this day ended most prolific continuous period of tornado outbreaks in American history. 401 tornadoes were reported in 19 states and 1 Canadian province, 1,587 reports of large hail and 740 reports of wind damage.
Wow, this day has been pretty big throughout the years! 1994 is probably the most iconic for many reasons. I loved enter the dragon, had no idea he put himself through all of that though, god love him! Great post again, I always look forward to reading these 🙂

The extreme weather other nations such as America gets makes me realise a little miserable rain in England is something us Brits should not complain about!

So interesting to hear about this date. It is also the date that my father died in 1985. 31 years ago this year.

I have recently watched the movie about Nelson Mandela and remembered it while reading your post. This must be a very important day for South Africa if he was elected on this day.

I don’t really remember any of those events happening. I mean, if I was asked when any of them happened, I couldn’t answer. I tried to recall where I was on that day in those particular years, but I could only remember that in 1986 I was living in London. I couldn’t even recall what the weather was like in May of that year. Funny how little we do remember or is it just me? lol Anyway, interesting post! 🙂

Wow this is a really interesting way of thinking. I knew most of these events happened but never thought about their proximity to other events or even if they were on the same days. Well done.

I saw a biopic of Bruce Lee when I was younger. It was so sad that he was taken away too soon. His son was also so talented and gorgeous. It was really a shame we lost him too.
