Yesterday Was Pi Day

So, yesterday was March 14th. To us geeky types, that means is was Pi day! Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world.

But, what IS Pi??  Pi is the symbol used in mathematics to represent the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, which is approximately 3.14159. The symbol used to represent Pi is the Greek letter π, which is the 16th letter of the Greek alphabet.

In honor of Pi day, I celebrated by baking a couple of pies!! What could be more delicious than that?? I baked an apple pie and a pineapple pie.

Happy Pi Day! Homemade Apple & Pineapple Pies!

Don’t they look yummy?? Well, they are quite tasty, even if I do say so myself!! lol Although my children are grown adults now with children of their own, they LOVE the fact that I put the little cutouts decorated with colored sugar crystals on the top of the pies. It is something that I started doing when the kids were very young and it does make for easy identification of what fruit is inside the pie before it is cut! 😉

Did you do anything special to celebrate Pi Day? 🙂

  1. LOL I love this! I didn’t know Pi Day existed nor am I a mathematician but an excuse to eat pie is always good…. does that include a pizza pie? My favourite ever pie was a coconut pie with strawberry and raspberry jam – best. thing. ever!!
